    Liquor companies get clearance

Lion Nathan cleared to acquire up to 100 percent of the shares and/or assets of Independent Liquor

    24 August 2006
The Commerce Commission has cleared Lion Nathan Limited to acquire up to 100 percent of the shares and/or assets of Independent Liquor (NZ) Limited.

Commission Chair Paula Rebstock says the proposed acquisition is unlikely to substantially lessen competition in any of the relevant markets.

Lion Nathan manufactures and distributes a range of alcoholic beverages in both Australia and New Zealand, including beer, wine, spirits and ready-to-drink spirit brands as well as operating the ?Liquor King? chain of retail stores.
